Frantic Assembly CPD workshop at the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre

On the 3rd of October the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre hosted acclaimed physical theatre company Frantic Assembly for a free CPD session for local teachers ahead of the company’s production of Othello visiting the theatre in November.

During the workshop, company member Richard James-Neale worked with twenty teachers from eleven local secondary schools. The group explored the ‘Frantic method’, developing practical skills they could take back to the classroom to support and inspire their students. The group had a lot of fun learning everything from the basics of the Frantic approach to executing lifts and creating their own short movement pieces.

‘I would like to say thank you for hosting the event! Me and my team had a great time, and our biggest feedback was that it was GREAT to actually work on our own subject knowledge and be able to be creative!! We often don’t get this kind of CPD that will help inform our teaching and what we deliver to the students!’ – Kayleigh Howells, Head of Drama, Ash Manor School

As part of the Yvonne Arnaud’s growing Creative Learning offer, the theatre is creating a hub for local teachers to connect with each other and to provide access to arts focused CPD opportunities. If you would like to join the group, please contact Rhiannon Fisher at [email protected]
